I finished a public relations campaign in Dec. I got 7 articles in local papers and 2 in national papers (In ireland, one of the target markets). The press release was circulated throughout press release websites. The PR guy said it would help my SEO.
Is this true? Has anyone else have any similar experiences? Riviera

ALL publicity and PR campaigns CAN have a positive effect on your search engine rankings. Exposure brings with it links and mentions on blogs and websites all over the globe.
This doesn't mean that it is the most effective use of your time or it isn't, simply that the effect will (to one degree or another) be positive. SERP results come from true relevance. Relevance can often come from making news. So IMO, I guess the answer is Yes. It likely had a positive effect. To see the amount of the effect is to tell you whether or not the effort was cost effective and time efficient. Best Eric

The syndication (Or method of syndication) can also build links, often times PR style sites do not provide direct search engine friendly links, but those that syndicate the article do.
