I am just wondering what your business would be like if you were no longer ranked with Google? I have had one closing b/c of my website so I would be about the same, but I am getting a lot of leads lately. Would your business suffer if you were dropped?

My business is primarily referrals at this point, and the only thing that I rank for right now (not PR, but listed on the page) is: loan officer tips. Which is a good thing since I train Loan Officers, but no leads that way....definitely something I am working on though.

Despite my best efforts, Google still brings 48% of my traffic. I try to keep that number as low as possible by driving traffic from other sources. If I somehow lost placement in Google it would be a bad day!

My percentage from Google is very similar to Lydia's. My goal is to have a wide variety of traffic sources so I will not be devasted if I lose rankings with any single source.

If I lost all rankings it would hurt, but PPC would replace it very quickly. You can't count on natural rankings for ever and must have a backup plan IMO.

I don't know why you would want to keep that number as low as possible wouldn't you want to increase your traffic through google. |

If for whatever reason, google changed their algorithms and you don't rank well, you would still have business coming in from alternative means - while you worked on getting back in the google rankings.

If we didn't have big G, I guess we would have yahoo, aol and msn. Hopefully, we'd be doing similarly with the other search engines.
Otherwise, I'd be wearing out a pair of shoes.
