Was reading my google alerts and another agent's blog and he has these links that have a sort of pop up that I haven't seen. What would one want to have this advertising link for? Is it a google type thing where you get a few cents from when one clicks on it?

I would not want to be one with these type of links. I think that the Snapshots pop ups are annoying too.

And yes, it is a Google type thing, in the sense that the user displaying it generates revenue to do so.

That was my guess. So is it a two fold benefit for the user, one it is a link benefit and secondly it is a revenue generation? If so then that would seem to be a financial benefit(agent standpoint) as well as a link ( agent benefit)to whatever one thinks the benefit of more information on the link is( consumer benefit) and the linkee as inbound link( benefit to that agent). It seems to be a mini pop up that one can follow or not, but you get a whiff of what it may lead to.
Thanks for the explanation. I thought it was kind of interesting for the reasons mentioned above.

Thanks for the link back CK. I still think there must be more good from it than bad. At least the popup is not annoying and while it is self serving on a number of fronts seems like a low level way to earn a few cents. I can afford to pass on that much income though

No prob... though, I disagree and think those type of pop-ups are annoying as all hell. They stray from usability standards and turn-off users more often than not, in my experience.

If you have a good-sized readership, you can experiment with those to see how many subscribers you lose vs. how much money you gain. Personally, I don't like blogs that use those ads, and I've never clicked on them. How many authority bloggers have you seen using those ads?

While I don't intend to use them, thought it interesting. I think as people look at ways to garner revenue, this will buy them a postage stamp. I think that it will find more wide spread use and less annoyance than a full size popup as these are only a small pop up when one clicks. Whereas a regular popup you have no control over except for settings in your browser.
