Default % of people who...

hit the registration page and actually register...

What would be an acctable percentage?

For example, if you get 100 people who hit a page that requires registration, how many should register?

Actually I have a question that is related....

when you look at actual registrants, what % of them sign-up / opt-in for email notification(s) of listings that match their search criteria?

As a follow-up to that question, does anyone have tips on how BEST to structure the sign-up (or other?) to insure that more people are actually opting in for email notifications.

Can you qualify your question - the answer really would depend on how you get users to that page - are they media related, natural search, PPC etc - in your case because I "think" I am familiar with what you have going on, I would assume your actual question is "what % of visitors from natural search engine queries that end up at your registration page, actually register" is this more accurate?

Yep...

Organic searches where registration is required to view details would be specifically what I'm looking for. Really, I'm trying to evaluate my registration page...

That is a good question. How many people get annoyed by your registration page by clicking on a individual MLS number and are forced to register. However, on the flip side... it can definitely help your leads and conversion ratios.

EFS I have at the end of my registration page "Would you like to have listings that match your saved search criteria emailed to you as they come available?" The default box is yes and they have to change it to no. I need more back end tools in my website to track how many people are saving searches and what sort of information they are receiving.

Ryan
I don't have a ton of traffic on my site yet, but on average I'm getting about one registration for every 12 visits to the reg page. It is hard to tell if people visit the page a couple of times before deciding to sign up.

I believe the generally acknowledged target number for any sales conversion is the 1% rule. 1 out of 10, 10 out of 100, etc.

If you come close to 1% you are doing VERY well.

Do you mean 1% or 10%?

Whoops. I was up all night dealing with our crashed office's email Exchange server and re-routing emails from our web server to default catch-alls. I'm fried.

1% - 1 out of 100.
