Default Are Sub Pages As Strong As Main Pages?

Are Sub Pages as strong as the main page it's under from an SE prospective? Are they looked at just like any other main page of our site? The reason I'm asking is because, if they are not looked at the same by the search engines then, this will help in what I determine to put as a sub page and what I put as a main page.

All pages on a domain have the potential to be as strong as all other pages on a domain, what makes one page stronger than another is the internal and external (inbound) links to a page.

Normally a "sub" page (Because you are speaking specifically from an REW websiite perspective) will have less internal linking than a main page, due to the fact that it is not linked to from the main nav (Like main pages are) - but that is easily remedied via the use of a snippet, footer links etc if it is a very important page.

You can also communicate any really important sub pages to the linking team and they will make an effort to build some external links back to the page as well.

When I google my company name, two results from the domain come up. The first one is the homepage, which should be standard. The second is the 'privacy policy', which I would consider the least important page on the site, out of around 100.

How would I go about making another page as the number 2? Presumably, this would also be very beneficial to SEO.

Get more links to your important internal pages and the privacy policy link will go away in Google...depending on what the search term is, if someone is searching for "real estate privacy policy" then it may still show.

The important thing to understand about search engines is that they index web pages, not web sites. Every page on the web is considered unique by a search engine and they will rank that page accordingly. So, yes a sub-page can outrank the top level domain, especially if the keywords are different for the sub-page. In general, the top level domain is the strongest page on a website, but not in all cases.

First question - is anyone other than you actually Googling your company name?

If you are wanting a different page to rank for that term then you will need to optimize for it. Point links to it that have the anchor text you are using as a keyword, submit that page to a deeplink directory, blog about it and then link to it, put out a Press Release. Just a few things in general but like Morgan said do you think anybody other than yourself is searching your office name?
