Default Anchor text

Hello All,

I need a little webmaster 101. What exactly is anchor text and how do you place it in your domain name when link exchanging. Thanks for the beginners lesson in advance.

Your signature links are examples of anchor text.

I am guessing that you made those links so apparently you know how.

I wanted to make sure that there was not something missing from what everyone else what doing. There had been a big deal made in another thread about using explicit anchor text, and I wanted to be sure that there was not a more advanced method or whatever that I was missing.

It's important that your anchor text reflect the keywords you're trying to target for the particular page that the link points to.

I suppose that might have been it, I honestly cannot remember what the issue was. Thanks for both of your replies, I had to make sure I was not leaving a stone unturned.
