Zillow Property Boundaries
How does Zillow get property boundaries from all over the country and plot them so neatly on their maps?

In our area, an private service makes the data available via our county tax website ... Landata Technologies. As far as I know, they are the ones that make the maps, or have their hands in making the maps, for our county tax pages and they also provide huge amounts of data to the title companies.
Just a guess.

There are a number of aggregators who collect public information -- property boundary lines, which are known as parcel files, are one of the things that they collect and aggregate. Zillow uses several 3rd party aggregators to obtain this data.

Our MLS (NWMLS) just updated their mapping system. They now pull aerial photos from Local.Live and drop lot lines on them. The lot lines are close, but not 100% accurate.

Yes, it would be impossible to be perfect. I am super stoked that our MLS made the jump. I was tired of drawing the approximate lines in myself

In our MLS (TrendMLS), we have access to property tax map. It's basically a scanned plot plan where they show you the all the properties in that area and their lines and the size of each line, so you know exactly where it starts and where it ends. It's a pdf file that is associated with every listing, but 100% accurate. No fancy aerial images yet, but that would be nice.

a lot of counties have them publicly available. I have them locally on my laptop and use a client program to view the plat lines, utilities, aerial photos, etc. It's really cool stuff if you get into it. It does take a bit of time to get used to the GIS lingo and such, but it's neat.
