Just an update for all you REWer's out there -

I know things have been a bit slow around here (Server response times) lately, and we are more than tickled pink to announce that it won't be for long.

I have already purchased all new servers for both the database red hat clusters and a new dedicated mail server.

It is taking a bit longer than anticipated to implement - first because we needed to move to a bigger closet (We have so much new hardware, that our current storage was insufficient) <<< This has been completed

We are also waiting on the installation of our new cisco hardware load balancer (I don't have a finite ETA on this, or I would post it) really I would like to have it installed yesterday - but should be completed mid next week.

Once we have all hardware hooked up and tested, we will begin data migration which should take several weeks - however the web servers should see immediate speed increases as the majority of speed issues are actually caused by the database servers so each bit of data that migrates will decrease load, and increase speed.

We are going to be migrating the largest IDX boards first (MRIS, MLSNI, SOCAL, MLSPIN etc) - we are going to attempt all data migrations in the wee hours (2-3AM CST) and if all goes well, there should be no down time - but these are machines so you never know.

I am very excited about this and will be even more so, when we have this new hardware in place that should serve us for the next several years.

Just wanted to thank you BJ and other MRIS subscribers - you have been incredibly patient, the server slowdown is likely the hardest on MRIS subscribers because the MRIS database is so huge (Not to discount that everyone deserves the most speed possible) - It's a blessing a curse I suppose to belong to the largest MLS board in the world.

Important server update!

Just got of the phone with the DB team at rackspace, and they are doing final configurations to the load balancer - we are going to be doing some test migrations later tonight - looks like we will be able to start moving data within the next couple of days
