The only thing that I have seen with regard to this are text messages with listings. This would definitely be a great thing to have, though!

Most businesses have yet to discern to what additional benefit a MLS listing search on a cell phone would have. The screens are only so big on a cell phone, and most people have ready access to a laptop or desktop. Meanwhile, cell phone data plans are not reasonable.

Another thing that could be useful would be some sort of a set up where people can send a text message to a # that you would have on your sign and they would get an automated text back with all the info on the home. You could also get their phone # and then follow up with them....Just a thought.

Cool. I will check it out. Looks like they only work with service providers in the US.

I happen to agree with nemaroller.
Text messaging is a fine idea, but IMO too limited and doesn't provide enough of a representation. Although... pda's are still a good option for this type of application. More and more people are turning to smart phones, but IMO they are really not real estate application friendly. The smart phone screen is just too small to be effective. The pda's on the other hand have enough screen real estate to be effective for a robust RE application, but no one wants to walk around with 2 units or want the ones large enough to display an application. I believe the Treo is the closest thing these days to having enough screen area to make real estate viewing an effective tool (although the new at&t phones look promising). If I had my way, I would place a touch screen kiosk at every listing.

Mobile phones advertising (SMS) is attractive but I have been a little skiddish with it as of yet. I think it could be a viable option in a few years but I don't know if it would be cost effective at this time. How it applied of course is the deciding factor on this but I have not found a way just yet...maybe I need to get out of the box.

If I were in a higher end market and in a more technologically inclined area I would definately be doing much more with mobile technology.
There are many uses for these units (smart phones and pda's) without having to incur a large financial investment.
