Default how about a forum on ethics?

I was reading a member's blog a few minutes ago and came across a quote that had me thinking that if I was one of this member's clients, I'd be suing him for that.

That had me thinking that at times we all may end up doing so saying something we are just not sure about, or carry on doing our business in a certain way and never think if it is unethical or unlawful. How about a forum to discuss ethics of this profession and our actions, to see what other Realtors do in a specific situation that we are not sure about?

Pretty sad, isn't it that some bad mouth clients and even other realtors as though they are the annointed one who does no wrong. Usually, it is the agent(s) that does little business and thinks bad mouthing others will get them business. Why would a client want to work with an agent like that?

I am actually open to a forum on Ethics (Both in real estate and webmastering) my only concern with these kinds of forums is that they tend to lend themselves to mud slinging etc - These forums need to be educational in nature, not a place to air dirty laundry.

If I set one up - would anyone have a problem with a stipulation that scenarios must be discussed in a hypothetical format, or at least not naming names sort of thing? I really don't want to get in the middle of a libel / slander suit between two members - or worse yet have it appear as if I condone these kinds of actions.

Thoughts comments? The idea certainly has merit - just one we want to handle delicately.

I would have no problem with this stipulation

I didn't intend this to turn into a thread about a particular member. Maybe I should not have referenced the REW blog at all.

Actually it is good that you did - it exemplifies how much consideration we would need to give a forum like this, even your subtle comment has aroused some potential for member naming, imagine what an ethics forum might do?

I still think that if properly moderated, this forum would be a good learning tool. We often forget that real estate is an eyeball to eyeball business at the end of the day.

I am not arguing with you at all - I like the idea - Like I said, let's establish the dialogue, just emphasizing the importance of planning in a forum like this.
