A Miami Realtor blogger was fired by his broker this week after he and his broker were sued because of allegations he made about a developer on his blog. "Experts" say it will be a legal test whether a blogger can be held accountable for what he writes. Opinions?

I think this would be a very hard suit to win. the developer has to prove that the writer made false statement with the intent to harm. That is a very high standard.

However, the developer does not need to win the suit in order to get his point across. The cost of defending himself could easily bankrupt the writer. This is one of the major faults of our legal system. You don't have to be right to ruin your opponent.

That is really interesting. Blogs are simply media outlets. Clearly there are certain lines that are not to be crossed, but you are still entitled to share your opinion.

No he did not get it in that article but CNN said it on TV.

I wish some up and coming Attorney would come to his aid and help him to prevail against the developer, and to sue his short sighted broker as well. After all the broker is seeking to limit the poor guys right to free speach.

True ... didn't see anything the guy did..made some comments on speculation about how the development would do and such

if the dev wins, I would ask all people to sue your stock broker for bad advices about speculation on the recommendation they made ..
