Stupid question but does it make sense to have two separate installs of wordpress on one real estate website. Here is my rational.
As a real estate blogger I basically have two different audiences. Customer/Clients and Realtor/SEO/Social Networking The two groups are 100% different in what they are interested in reading. Customer/Clients: Interested about the town, activities, home deals and listings. Realtor/SEO/Social Networking: Interested in just about anything other than my town, home deals and listings. So does it make sense to have two separate blogs on my main Real Estate site?

Yes it can be done very easily with wordpress. I was just wondering if there was any reason not to do it?

That's a good point Michael,
I'm wondering the same thing for my commercial/property management site. Thanks for asking ![]()

I think that it makes perfect sense to do. I would most likely use a subdomain for the real estate agent audience.

Seems like one of those things that everyone was kinda thinking about but no one has really done it yet. Sounds like a good idea.

Ok, I'll take it upon myself to do and let you know how it turns out

Yes do please, I am interested in how it turns out. The only issue I could think of with it pertains to really heavy weight blogs, where they need to focus on a level of brand management.... one site two blogs with major brands could confuse readers BUT in this case it is more like you are giving your view on two related topics that have different needs. Go for it!

Actually I'm hoping my real estate clients never even read the blog that is not intended for them. The 2nd blog would be for nothing other than link popularity for the main site and rather than be restricted to real estate topics I can blog about Britney Spears as mother of the year, Porsche 911 test rides and how to cook the perfect quiche.
Correct me if I'm wrong but a link to www.mydomain.com/blog2 gives www.mydomain.com some link love?

Yes it would give you some link love provided your linking structure from /blog2 is set up to perform that way.
I though about doing this sometime back and have just never moved forward with it. Something to keep in mind is if your intent is to use it on social networking sites you may yet run into a problem about the name of the domain, depending on what that is. If it sounds commercial, you may still have problems on some sites, like digg.
