Had to bump that post down a notch! But while I'm here I do have an MSN Question. I've got a new site that is about three months old ranking in the first 2 - 3 pages on google for a plethora of keywords. I don't even think much of where a site is on MSN these days but I decided to take a look and it's not even indexed? Used to be I ranked well on MSN without even trying. Now I'm not even there. Is there something I'm missing? A three month old site that google is perfectly well aware of should rank in MSN should it not?

Yahoo seems to like it and has 63 pages indexed and 41 back links.

I have the same problem with a point2 site. It initially dominated MSN for my KW's and as G and Y improved I started disappearing there.

A few years ago with another point2 site it was great ranking on MSN and then disappearing on Y.

I never figured it out.

all of this optimizing has my wheels spinning. it seems like no one really has the answers and all of the websites that are really ranking well, their owners are nowhere to be found and don't want to share their wisdom. I am respectedly talking about my field, investing instead of realty.

I think MSN still uses older algorithms that rely on meta and keywords, Yahoo still likes lots of links and Google ~ well quality stuff in proper context and moderation.

I have notice the past month changes in Google and MSN, so both may be changing their formulas?

Still, I see older sites with poor content, link farms and never changing a thing hold tight to the top spots in all 3, so if you can buy an old domain ~ it may well be worth it?

I've never had any problems with indexing in MSN. I have heard of some problems with Point2 sites in MSN as well as yahoo and google. Have you changed any strategies recently that might cause impact on this site in SE's, maybe duplicating content, paying for links, etc.

i rank very well in msn, however, I've never optimized for any particular search engine. Just good old on-page optimization and off-page, never geared towards a particular search engine. My site is about a month old, I am on page 1 of msn, page 2 of google, on yahoo I am nowhere to be found. I am not even indexed, I think.

The only thing I did was to look at the backlinks of top ranking rites for my keywords, and then tried to get the same links (directories, etc) wrote articles, press release etc.

I can't give you any "tricks" cause I no of none, except write good content, build your links and keep an eye on your competition. Luckily, in my area, the competition is sorely lacking
