Is there any SEO benefit or harm to editing- updating blog articles?

Say you had an article about a home for sale and it sold. Is there any reason you would not want to go back and add a line or two that said the house was sold? I'm guessing you do not want to delete blog articles.

There is no harm in editing a document really, there "could" be a benefit, if you discover some keyword not included in it and added some content reflecting that keyword
