Is anyone an editor for the DMOZ open directory project?

There should be a few lurking about here. However they're unlikely to come out of the woodwork without a relevant question.

The only question I have is how long does it typically take to get listed after you request inclusion. I have read what the website says: 2 weeks to several months and would like a more firm answer. I do JoAnt and would be willing to help push some of their sites up the pipeline if they were willing to do the same

Robert, I suspect that what you're suggesting would fall into the corruption category.

This poll: What's the oldest submission you've edited? didn't get a great response but it'll give you an idea of what to expect.

I didn't say that I would approve it right away, I said that I would push it up the pipeline. At JoeAnt I get hundreds of submissions a week and can go through in any order to approve them for final editing and listing. I assume that DMOZ is the same way. I don't think I was suggesting that I'd approve anything just to get my sites approved, just a mutual push through the pipeline

it can take a while depending on the category.. For example i am an editor in a local category. But i have no control on others adding sites.. in fact i have a site i have been waiting about 5 months to be reviewed, and im an editor.

There's no concept of a push, you are either edited or not. DMOZ editors can edit in any order as well and that order can't actually be manipulated by "pushing". You can't see any other editors comments until you open a submission to edit it - although you can see if an editor has "touched" it.

If you're seeking a listing with DMOZ, it could take many years or never happen. My advice if you're wanting to surreptiously push up your listing would be to check out - corruptdmozeditor.com/2004/12/how-to-bribe-dmoz-editor.html
