Default Links = pagerank = traffic ???

From what I've learned, the more links you have pointed to your site, the higher your pagerank will be. Not all links are created equal - so if a higher pageranked site has a link to your site, it will help you more than a site with a lower pagerank.

My question is this.

Can you roughly estimate how much traffic you will get based off of your pagerank. Can you say that if you have a pagerank of 4, that you will get an average of x visitors to your site every day?

Can you guys post what your pagerank is and an average of how many visitors you get to your site every day?

Thanks,
Chad

hmmm. if i recall correctly, I read that PR <> SERP directly. So you could have a lower PR than someone but be less relevant thus not rank as highly for a given term.

A site can have PageRank of 6 and get low traffic, or a site can have PageRank of 3 and have lots and lots of traffic. Higher PageRank doesnt mean higher traffic.

Higher SERP`s will mean more traffic dont focus too much on page rank its not really important.

First you need to find out what type of traffic you want. Traffic for the search term "Ruby Slippers" won't sell many houses. What Search term do you want to rank well for?

Your fist step is Keyword Research. What keyword (related to homes sales) are people in your market searching for?

In most housing markets "My town Real Estate" is a pretty good term to go after.

So now you build a web page at your site around this search term.

What should the title of your home page be? The answer is "My town Real Estate"

Include meta description and meta keywords that include "My town Real Estate"

What should be in the H1 headers for that page? Answer = "My town Real Estate"

What keyword should you have liberally sprinkled in the text on that page? Answer = "My town Real Estate"

Now your page is more or less optimized for this search term.

Now you have to tell the world where to find your great page. Go off to other websites, blogs and article submission sites and let them know about your great new website. Make sure to let them know the title and include a link back to your site. The title and link should look like this My Town Real Estate

That's all you have to do. If you tell enough people via blogs websites and article submission sites about your wonderful page you will quickly be placed in the top ten on Google yahoo and MSN for the term "My town Real Estate"

It really is that easy.

Thanks Coastal! That was the answer that helps me the most. It confirms what I have been reading, and goes back to my original post that high quality links pointing back to your site bring in the traffic (plus the onpage optimization that you mentioned). It sounds like I was off on the pagerank thing - but so many people focus on pagerank.

Why do they focus on pagerank if it doesn't bring in the traffic?

I think webmasters always like to see the results of hard work so apart from the SERP`s which is really all it comes down to they check the pagerank or maybe Alexa to see some movement and sometimes get a smile out of it.
