Hi all
I'm new to real estate site development, with experience with php, mysql, actionscript, html, css. I want to create a php script to parse mls data and populate a mysql database for subsequent listing on the site I'm developing. I was thinking I could then convert the DB to xml and use it in a Adobe Flex user interface through actionscript. I think this is feasible. Does anyone see any holes in the logic of what I'm suggesting? Has anyone done something like this? Also, is there a resource for php MLS integration that could get me jumpstarted on that end of things? I'm eager to share my experience and thanks in advance for your help. Cameron |

Really depends on what you are planning for the FLEX deployment, often times creative tallented developer types go way to far on the "cool factor" and create something that the general public simply does not understand.
Were you thinking you were just going to connect an xml feed to a flash output or something? There is a simple example of this at www.realsourcebrokers.com (Check out the flash map on the right hand side, it connects to the mysql database for the FAR IDX feed

The flash map is a great sample, thanks for the inspiration.
I'd like to make the interface more than a static table view. Accordion menus come to mind. Maybe it sounds flashy, but I think it could be cool and useful. First thing however, I'd like get the mls into a database, or access a remote database. My client has already submitted a request to the Tucson Assoc of Realtors, but I honestly don't know what to expect. Will they give me an ftp login to download CSV files based on given parameters, that I can then put into a local mysql database? Or will it be a remote database hosted by MLS that processes user requests live? |

Sounds good, thanks for the info. I'll update on how things go.

I am looking to hire someone to create an XML feed or other MLS-dynamic data feed for use in flash. The MLS I am dealing with is Aspen, Colorado. Anyone have any experience? Interested in the project?
