Sorry for the newbie question, though I have had blogs for a long time I have never learned about where to submit my blogs or even how (I have Active Rain and Blogger and soon to add REW blog).


I heard of Digg and others but I have no idea what these things are and where to start in the process of submitting. I often see where some sites say to submit your RSS feed or XML or Atom- I have no idea what that means or what my feeds are

Any help?

I have found linking to Digg (register with Digg and click on the Digg icon every time you finish your blog) brings up your blog as a relevant search result through the Digg database if somebody was searching for content related to your blog entry.

I now religiously link to Digg for everyone of my blogs.

You need to stop doing this, or you will be banned from DIGG - I suggest you read their quality guidelines and become more familiar with the community and architecture before you go pushing all those buttons

If I understand your question you wanted to know what RSS was? From my understanding it basically is a constant stream of information put out by your site. When new content is added it is added to the feed and then sent it is seen by whoever is subscribed to your feed.

For submitting your Blog to directories. If you go under your blog and click on the orange radio icon. You will be taken to the URL for your RSS feed. For many directories you will submit your Feed URL and for others you will submit your blogs direct URL.

My feed I use Feedburner then submit my Feedburner URL to directories so I can track subscriptions and such.

Hope that was somewhat of an answer to your question. I am quite new to RSS also.
