I understand that after 300 posts, the links we have in our signatures here on the forum will have the "no follow" taken off, is that also the case with the REW directory? I see they are also no follow right now.

I tried to search but did not find the answer.

Yes you correct, your signature will become a normal link after 300 posts.

On the directory, I think that maybe the way the directory works had to be changed because some were saying that maybe it could be construed as a paid link...which Google of course frowns upon. This is just a guess.

I believe that REW chose to add nofollows to all out going directory links (with exception to the "My Website" button) after Google penalized them a couple of months ago.

Good point and I have to agree. While there is some link value to the REW forums, the relationships and knowledge gained far exceed the direct SEO value. Consider the journey more than the destination.

Get Smart, I do not recommend posting just to get your link count up - if you start posting a bunch of "me to" posts and one liners, you would likely not make it to 300 anyways - we recommend only posting when you have something of value to contribute to the community by the time you hit 300, you will have learned why it doesn't really matter.

why would you even suggest such a thing? just because of one post you would make such a statement. i think i have more sense than you are giving me credit for. that sucks, you sure know how to make a newbie feel welcomed. i thought these sites were to help people. look at all of my post and see if you see some one liners or me to post. I think that is very unprofessional to say the least and probably should have been sent as a private message.

It sucks that you have not given the webmaster the benefit of the doubt either. I suspect he was just passing information on like he does with everyone else who is concerned about the 300 link threshold.
