i have found a competitors site that is linked to like over 1,000 directories, most are free with and seem to have good page rank, any idea if i can be hit i submit to all of the free ones with one way linking, can i expect some type of page rank increase.

I want to try to get at least 100 incoming links.

it couldn't hurt, just be careful with paid links, too many links in a short period of time can raise some flags.

how do i check a directory to see if it has pagerank? the reason why ask, my competitor has entirely too many directory submissions and i can see it taking me at least 2 years to contact them all. I just want to submit to the best of the best.

another thing, how does he or anyone else find so many directories? i want the juice.

careful with directory pagerank, just because you are listed on a page 6 ranked directory page doesn't mean you are getting more juice than a page 3 ranked page. If page 6 ranked page has outgoing links to 1000 sites and page three ranked site only has a couple outling links to featured sites, second option may bring you more juice

Don't bother looking at the toolbar when judging directories. That's the least of your concerns. I've posted elsewhere about what signs to look for, but the toolbar is not one of them.

Look at the quality of other sites that are listed on the page. If the listings are full of crap, don't bother submitting. If your site is crap and you still get accepted, don't submit there again.

Look over the directory's submission policy: if a directory requires a reciprocal link, don't bother submitting. If a directory guarantees a listing if you pay X dollars, don't bother submitting.

In short, a good directory should feel like an exclusive club that requires you to bend backwards and do a handstand to get accepted.

In other words, a good directory is extremely picky about what sites it accepts. That is the measuring stick Google uses to evaluate directories.
