Default Do you split your BPO fee with your company??

Hello, If you get $60 for a BPO do you have to give your office half or whatever commission level your at. I was told that if I do any BPO's that the fee is a commission and subject to the same rules as the listing or selling commission, I want all of it!!! Kinda stinks to do it for only 20-40 bucks,!!, thanks for any tips, John.

If you have a contract with someone and you are their employee, independent contractor or not, then you owe what the contract says you owe.

If you had a listing and the seller said, I want to keep the whole thing, how would you feel?

btw, while I might do a BPO, having worked doing real estate appraisals as part of my income in the past, I would never let anyone under my employ do one.

I understand, my company pays for just about all my expenses and I only need to pay Realtor and MLS, so I don't mind splitting, but it still would be nice to keep it all. Why would you not like people under you doing BPO's? thanks for the feedback, John.

Liability and laws... don't you think that some of this sub-prime issue will eventually trickle down to the appraisers and people performing BPOs?

I believe your broker needs to know about the bpo. Its up to him to charge you for or not.

I agree, your broker will decide, also you're probably using their E&O Insurance.

Possiblities vary, do quality work and on time. Most asset managers these days have their preferred agents, but its getting busier and they will need quailified agents. Just work hard and don't give up.

BPOs require a real estate license and a real estate license requires a BROKER SPONSOR so yes, the Broker is entitled to their normal split, but of course, anything can be negotiated and if you don't like the answer you get, you can always find another broker if this is a big enough break point for you.

Looks like I am alone here, but I totally disagree with any companies charging an agent to do BPO's.

Unless they are paying you the gas mileage to do them.

I won't ever work for a company who requires me to pay them for the work that I do.

They are my sponser, but they only have a right to split your commission, they aren't doing crap for you to do BPOs.

There are other real estate companies out there that don't charge you to do BPO's, so go with one of them.
