Default Questions about page placement

As I move my pages around, I have a question:

I have allot of pages and I am making an assumption that I'd like to have confirmed...

The placement of the pages in the CMS has no bearing on the actual placement of a page, correct?

Example:

I have a "Home" page which is a top navigation page, and a "Homes < 100k" page which is currently a main hidden page but not a navigation page. If I move this page under the Home page, it doesn't actually affect the pages location if it remains hidden, correct?

The movement of the page is strictly for organization. Yes? no?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jessie,

I believe that you are correct in this assumption. If a main page is hidden all of it's subpages will also be hidden.

Something doesn't seem right on the "Manage Pages" screen in the CMS on your dev site .... I'll have a programmer look into this.

Hello Jessie

Aaron was right about your manage pages not looking right. I have updated your CMS code to the latest version to get you all the bug fixes.

You cannot make pages or links a sub page or link of a main link. So I have moves the pages you had under Home back to being main pages.

The ordering of the pages in the Manage pages is primarily for how they show up in the navigation. If a page is hidden then its being a main page or sub page is irrelevant to the front end of the site. If a main page is hidden then all of its sub pages / links are also hidden.

You can use hidden main pages for organizational purposes if you would like.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Steven,

Thanks for updating the code and the clarification.

One thing I'll say is this new method is SO MUCH EASIER then the old method of moving links around.

Well done on the design of this piece.

The Tree view metaphor is much more appropriate for this type of task (although there are a few things I would have added such as being able to collapse the tree view).

But overall, great job guys.

Testing to resume tomorrow.
