Every day I get numerous requests for link exchanges. Some of these are from website that have absolutely nothing to do with real estate, unless of cours if you mix Cialis with concrete and your condos get taller..... sorry...little humor there.
A lot of these link exchange requests are obviously software generated as I get the same message for several different sites of very different subject matter. IMHO the only good link exchange is the old fashioned personal contact. I dont have a problem with someone emailing me for a link exchange as long as I know it comes from a person who has actually visited my site. Often times if I find a site I would like to initiate and exchange with, I pick up the phone and call them. Most site owners are genuinely (sp?) suprised and pleased that someone would actually call them about an exchange. There are no short cuts with effective linking strategies. Forget linking software, link farms, and shady link building companies. Make your contact personal and let the webmaster know you have actually visited their site and like what you see. Yes it takes time but in the long run it will pay off............ eric

I also recieve so many link request emails per day that are software generated. The emails are made to look like a person wrote it, but hey you cant fool a seo expert with these letters. I blacklist and bounce them
sad yes, but true. i completely agree. There are too many sites adding too many links to their pages creating too many watered down pages. If webmasters just stop and realize that 3 or 4 QUALITY link ups will give you the PR and the popularity you need. Then its about optimizing your site with quality content and correct formatting. If its about trying to get as much traffic as you can thru links, then think about it -- who clicks on the links on a real estate links page? website owners of course. looking for links. Dump all the rubbish from your links pages. stop creating software generated link directories, and hard code your site. It will benefit you in the long run.

We also get dozens of requests per day. I know they must be computer generated because on our site it states very directly our terms for a link exchange. Most times these computer generated ones are in the same format, so they end up in the recycle bin very quickly.
I agree, "the only good link is a human iniated link" and I also agree about the Cialis statement. |

great comments guys - I have always believed this, and that is why we have a 4 "person" links team that manages our real estate links. They have looked at every site, they find the contact on your site, they email and if you have a question guess what - you get a response!
It has really helped my business and my clients rankings taking this quality over quantity approach and those of you that follow our work or practice this yourself know the ranking benefits. I say let them keep chasing the wrong rabbit - it just means we have less competition to worry about.

Your links department should know that I get so many emails from sites that have links pages that are not at all valuable to any one, that the email doesnt get past the spam washer.
An email that does get through: will be sent individually. (not through bulk emailer) Then gets read: has a honest evaluation on whether or not a link partnership is worth talking about. The only link partnerships that I have put in place, have been ones that actually have a point to them. I will not link with pages that have scrolls and scrolls of links that look the same and are the same as 20 other sites. (each of the sites has the same links page) I will swap links with a site that has the same page rank and will swap links on the homepages. I will swap with sites that have text optimisation built into the interface. ie. h1 h2 tags, simple formatting, common sense usibilty and site structure. if I had a crew of 30 working for me, I would not be setting up links with a million other websirres, but I would have them researching my niche, and developing relevant and helpful data on my site for my customers. Why try and make up for the lack of comtent or actual information or lack of customer focus and website usibilty by having thousands of links to other real estate related websites? -- UNLESS these resources are hand picked, evaluated and approved as actuals? I am sure google will sort it out for us all eventually. ![]()

Hello DKiss,
Our team never send bulk email and we have already known link partners database........ The thing i have pointed to read them is just that they should write some points about the website also for which they are doing link building, i found your post usefull and it does not mean that we do bulk emails for the link building. We are reputed IT comapny based in india and we are in this business from last 8 years and if you simple search in google "link building" we are in top 20 and on other keywords like "link popularity services" and "link building services" we are in top 10 results.... We never use any wrong methods for doing SEO, we have a network of nearly 180 websites and we have our own 60 directories and search engines. Your post was very good and i appreciate those points......Thanks..... |
