Default Orphaned Pages

Hi,

I did some reorganizing of my website using the "manage pages" tool in the CMS 2.0 and I noticed some funny behavior.

When I assign a main page that has subpages to be a subpage of another main page, then the subpages (which are now subpages of a subpage) disappear so to speak.

I realize this is because the tree only has two levels, but it seems like it would make sense if the CMS would reassign the sub-subpages to be main pages again because otherwise there is no way to edit them.

Thanks for any advice.

I've got the same problem this morning. Need to edit some pages and can't find them on the manage page screen.

Example: http://dev12.rewdev.com/gulf-shores-homes.php is not on the page management screen.

If we can find all of my orphans, I would like them to be a submenu of the sitemaps page. However, I would like it best if the page manager could show third levels, even though the menu system can't.

Will be looking into this issue - Third level is something we would consider for future revisions, but that change is currently not under development.
Thanks for your patience guys.

I feel like a kid with a new toy and I am anxious to get started.

I am trying to outline/flowchart my pages and links in such a manner that the primary interior pages don't suck all the love juice from the homepage, secondary pages don't suck all the juice out of primary pages, but then there seems like there may be a problem if I understand this thread correctly, because as of now third level pages may not show up in the editor.

Is this correct?

I haven't played with my new toy yet, still reading everything I can find so I don't break it. I am planning my work at the moment but if I am understanding things I need to come up with another plan.

I guess an uninformed question now is: if I create stand alone parent pages (primary) and create child pages (secondary) of them now, will I be able to easily reassign them later? I'll read more and take a look so forgive me if this seems stupid.

You can always re-assign pages at any time (With ease) - however you can only make something a main page (If it is a sub page) or a sub page if it is a sub page - it is not that "third level" pages won't show up - "third level" pages do not exist in the REW system - there is only intuitive category and sub category menu options 2 deep, not 3.

What was reported in this page is actually a bug - which has been sent to the bug tracker

I just asked to make sure, I read more and found the answers I needed. Like I replied already, the workaround for my concerns is really the way I would prefer it anyway. For some reason I believe linking through the body of text deeper gives the linked to page more juice ~ just something I feel but I have no proof.

It's always good to have a bug whacker or exterminator around
