So I did my due diligence and read everything I could in the forum before asking the REW crew. The thing is I want to be extra careful before making any changes at this level to my wordpress blog config. The last time I change a directory setting and couldn't access my blog for days.
Everyone in the forum is suggesting changing the permalink setting from the default which includes question marks and IDs. My questions are: 1. Can I change these settings without killing my blog? 2. Which setting is best? I would much rather use a custom permalink that would include some content form the blog i.e. category, tag, etc. What is the best way to go about this? ![]() |

Hi Lou,
1) Yes - We may need to make the .htaccess file writable by the wordpress blog. 2) I am not sure which one is best. Check here for some info on Permalinks http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks |

Ok now I am really confused (lots of options). I am going to post it to a "non-support" thread to see what everyone else thinks. My concern is SEO obviously. I know everyone thinks data driven pages are supposed to rank the same, but I am not willing to take the chance. I would rather have the url look like static pages rather then query strings.

Lou - just a note WP is NOT a supported REW technology, so any support required on WP blogs installed is billable - This forum is for "REW Blogs" hosted support, not WP support -

Yeah Morgan I know. Maybe I posted it in the wrong forum. We have already been billed for some stuff that was done to my blog. I was merely hoping to get some advice, that's all and at the same time I didn't want to bring down my blog.
I got it worked out thanks. |

Cool - hope you are not offended was just doing some housekeeping - a lot of people who have us install 3rd party softwares such as vbulletin or wordpress are not aware that because they are not REW technology, they cannot get free support the same way they do for the REW technology they use. (Sometimes the staff forget to
)

I get that. I can see how some customers could get confused, when the product is skinned and installed, it is so well integrated that it is easy to forget its' a 3rd party product.
No worries, not offended at all. |

One more thing (since we are on the subject), I think my wordpress blog could use some design help.
take a look The posts are blending into one another. Is this something REW, can do or should I go elsewhere? |

We can certainly assist with the skinning - Put together your wishlist if you have something robust in mind, or simply (As Danielle suggests) post in the work orders forum something like "Can I get a quite on cleaning up my WP blog so that it better matches my site" - My guess would be 3-5 hours design time max if it was just cleanup. But again, best to ask the experts (Those that patrol the work orders)
