Default one-way link exchange

Hi everyone! I am recently getting lots of link exchange requests where people are asking for my link offering in return a link from another website (most of the time a directory). I am reluctant to agree for two reasons: one, that I manage my links manually, and feel I might lose track of who is linked to me and who has dropped my link (a common occurence, unfortunately); two, that I have a feeling that a link from a directory is worth less, especially if the directory has too many categories. Do I want a link from a directory that links also to Viagra and Poker?

keep it simple, one for one, relevant, recip, real estate only, that is the way I play and it works just fine.

It's alright to get links from directories that link also to Viagra and Poker, you just don't want to link to them in return. So they're okay if you can get true one-way links from them, but not if you have to reciprocate.

Yeah I have that same problem I know a different linking structure is needed besides just direct reciprocal but I'm not sure how to follow up my checks. besides now just searching one site I'd have to check the two by looking and comparing backlinks ... what a pain! I have done a few and just put the emailed request in a different folder but I am concerned about being overwhelmed.

I like the idea of finding about 10 quality real estate sites per state, setting up a partnership where we link into five and out of five then those sites do the same, till we all have a smooth set up that I won't have to keep checking on. I am tired of worrying about trusting folks to follow through and now I am concerned I may remove a good partner in a 3 way cause I can't find their link.... Let me know if you find a solution! Sward
