Almost 2 years ago, I entered into a contract with a guy who was building a website that was a city go-to for everything type site. On the advice of a friend who is on another one of this guys site and does VERY well with SEO, I signed on with this site even though it was new.
It didn't appear to me that after a few months, much was being added to the site to improve the links and google juice and I discontinued with the site. The site owner left my profile up under the TOP TEN agents or whatever the section was. I did well with GOOGLE during that time with a Point2Agent template site that I have reworked. Here is the archive of how I was linked back then: http://web.archive.org/web/200608270...gents-Top.html So here it is and about a month ago, my google rankings really took a plunge and this website owner emails me to let me know that he took my site down and he has reworked the site etc, and was I interested in signing up again. He attributes my fall in google to removal from the site (he noticed it, not me). So I noticed that I still have a link back on the site, just not the SAME linkback to my site and I emailed and asked, "is there a difference in the way I was linked and how I AM linked still" and he said this was one of the SEO strategies he uses and that he doesn't give that information out. Ok, I can't argue with success, but is this really a GREAT working linkback or is it some sort of voodoo!? Here is the current link on the site: http://www.thebestofkaty.com/katy-RE-KW-Tarvin.html What am I missing here....? Please help as I don't want to sign another contract to appear on the site unless I know this is truly a big factor in my sudden fall in google! |

Yes, I have other links...one way links and two way links both with authority sites and with other realtor sites.
I'm just not sure what he is talking about when it comes to the "type" of link and it being a "secret" strategy...he said it was white hat, but as we see on the forums, white hat is sometimes differently defined. Price comes out to what amounts to about $50/month or so... |

A good link will have your keywords in the title of the page and in the link text; and of course the page will have high PR. Also not to many other out links so you get all the juice. Personally I never paid for any of my links; $600 a year is to much for me. I rank on the first page of my city real estate. It took me about 6 months to accomplish that. But still have more work to do; we have about 10 really good keywords I want.

Hi Ron,
It's about time you found REW. Spend some time here and you will do well!

Yeah, I guess $600 is a lot per year, but there is supposed to be significant traffic from the site as well.
Thanks for the welcome Thataway. I've hit on here now and again, but site envy kept me away...I want to get an REW, but haven't been able to commit the financial resouces to doing it when I still have my Point2agent site...dumb, I know but it's a leap of faith to change! And I've never convinced myself if I should go template site or full custom REW. |

Don't let site envy get to you. These guys helped me with my point2 site for over 4 years. I just went custom and went live today. You should definitely look into the template!

Good luck. The simple sites are the best ones.

just be careful if a "SEO" company contacts you via email making all the promises in the world, it's usually a scam.

Yes, I am very careful with the great SEO companies out there...It's crazy how many call and then can't even chat about the most basic ideas of SEO. Most of them just end up hanging up on me and I'm not even near an SEO expert!
