We have a company E&O policy which we pay a portion of each year, mine is about $1000. The rate of the company is based upon their litigation track record. We used to pay a per transaction one at one time, there are definitely different policies depending on your deductible and the total coverage. Most claims are under 50K unless a lawyer gets involved, the legal costs are some of the most expensive parts of these cases, unfortunately.
On my car, I think I carry either 500K or 1M coverage

In this day and age of markets going down, people will like to sue an agent for their misfortune or stupidity. E & O insurance looks pretty cheap at that point.

E & O insurance is a must in today's sue happy age. I would shop around and get several quotes. You can find a good company E O policy for 600-1200 depending on your track record as Gregg mentioned. Company that NAR promotes seems to be on the high side, at least when I did my research.
