Hey guys,
I'll be the first to admit that I am terrible at writing content, so I was thinking of hiring a blogger who will do that for me. Once the content is created, I would optimize it myself and then publish it on my blog.

Have any of you ever hired a blogger and what's your experience? Also, how much should I expect to pay for a 500 word blog post?

This is pretty amazing. I posted this question about an hour ago. I just did a search on Google for "hiring a blogger" and my post is on page 3 (#21 to be exact). It's pretty unbelievable how quickly REW site gets indexed.

Anyway, any answers here?

I was actually thinking of doing all the research myself (keywords, information, data, statistics, etc.) and provide the blogger with that information. For now, hiring REW is a bit too much for my pocket, but if I can pass this information on to a blogger and have him/her put it all together, that would be great. I would then optimize it for SEs.

We've never hired a blogger but the writers we hire (the decent ones) would likely charge around $50 - $75 for a 500 word article. If you do the research and hand them something to complete I'm sure it would be a little less.

If you plan on hiring them full time they'd probably give you a deal e.g. $150/week for 4 articles or something. From what I've experienced, writers love a steady gig.

I think it depends on how much editing you want to do. I've seen ads for firms that charge much less, however, generally speaking you get what you pay for, so it depends on how much time you want to put into it and the quality of the finished product.

I'm not sure how that would work, is the blogger giving your opinion of something or theirs, plus I think it defeats the purpose of blogging in the first place...but that is just my opinion

Agreed. I think the idea of 'ghost blogging' loses the integrity of blogging. Thus, my conclusion was that the only way to hire a blogger is if you want to create a multi-person blog and have that person blog under their own identity. They could still be working for you, but it should be clear that they are a separate person.

Why would you hire a blogger, the who idea of blogging is to give people a window into your thoughts, and let them get to know you though your writing. Not to post extremely well written blog posts which reflect very little on who you are and what you think about what is being written about.

At least that is my take on blogging.
