Default Basic Questions

I've been reading through these forums for an hour trying to get a clearer picture of just what I can do with MLS- and have just a few unanswered concerns...

1) So, if I am just pulling a daily FTP dump- can I download just my client's listings? Or do I get every listing and then have to pick out the ones that apply to my client?

2) Is there any way to log in to my local MLS without being a broker/agent (do they let developers have access for testing)? Or do I need to work with my client's login info?

3) I've read that my first step should be contacting local MLS- but I don't want to get started with them on the wrong foot. Are they usually happy to help developers who are trying to integrate with them.. or are they reluctant?

Thanks so much for any help, and I hope you all are having a great day!

Best,
Michael

Default Re: Basic Questions

As far as my local (CT) is concerned ..

1. You have to pull all the listings (images and data seperate). You can pull all the data, and just update the images with a seperate account.

2. Yes, they will provide you with your own login, but there is very little options. All you can really set is the time the data is updated.

3. The agent/broker must sign some paperwork allowing to use the data. Then the MLS will give you as the developer a login to set update times and full or partial updates. My local MLS tech guy is VERY nice and supportive with any questions I have. But dont expect them to give you any programming help.

Thanks so much for the info-

Sorry for the late reply- it took 2+ weeks just to get approved.

Now I get to dive in and figure all of this stuff out.

Best,
Michael
