Update: Please don't comment all at once!

Has anyone here been using Twitter? I noticed that the cK is pretty active there, but I couldn't find any other active REW members. I like that Twitter lets you send out a quick and easy (mini blog post) out to your listeners. I actually found some online buddies and came across some good information.

I set up a Twitter account last night. My girlfriend was out, so I had some free time.

I have a twitter account but havent done anything with it yet...I always try to evaluate whats out there to see what the overall benefit is based on the the amount of effort I would have to put into it...or in fewer words...cost/benefit analysis

Robert, I can see of all people getting hooked on it. Twitter can be an informational overload. I have already been exposed to some new people and ideas that I likely wouldn't have been introduced to otherwise. If your account is already setup, there is really no effort involved.

Hey, Hey, Hey, I know....it isnt that, what it is is that I dont have the time in the day to do everything and I havent established a large enough benefit for use. I would and will use it eventually, but I try to establish a value for the other agents in the office. It is tough enough to get someone that hates technology to come into class to learn about youtube or facebook (although they do come and enjoy it)...I dont want to get the agents too thinned out, I need to keep them focused on the big hitters and then slowly transition to everything else.
If I look at the traffic that twitter gets vs facebook and youtube, there is truely no comparison. Facebook, youtube, and linkedin, along with blogging is keeping everyone busy right now. The first 3 alone equates to 100Million visits per month. but i will look you up on twitter, maybe I'll get hooked.

I totally understand. Twitter is definitely not for everybody, but it is a good way to promote what you are doing in your other social media websites. Especially once you have a strong following (which I don't yet) you can pitch a link or idea to several hundred to several thousand people and probably get most of them to take a look at it within minutes to an hour.

The key for me is that it is limited to 140 characters, so you know that everything is going to be short and sweet.

still looking into it, I do see the benefits but I just dont see how anyone would be interested in the fact that I am sitting in front of my computer 12 hours a day contemplating world domination (did I say that outloud)

I wanted to join, but my countries ISP blocked it for some reason.
its weird because all other social networks are unblocked (facebook,myspace etc.)
perhaps they wanted to kill it before it spread ...

I have 300ish followers on Twitter and follow roughly half of those.

There's a Wordpress plugin that automatically sends a Tweet out when I post a blog entry. That does drive some traffic.

I actually got a couple of "leads" -- people set up on auto searches -- that found me through Twitter.

But it's really more of a "chat room" for me. Not a bad way to network with others in the business though.
