I was interested if anyone from US resort areas have had any success marketing the recent drop in the value of the dollar to the Canadian dollar and the corresponding value of US properties to foreign investors. I live in an area that is frequented by many Canadian visitors and was looking to maximize my exposure to them.

Yes in Birch Bay and Semiahmoo near Bellingham, WA. Nearly all of the buyers in those markets are Canadians right now.

No, I don't do anything different. Most of my Canadian leads come from my websites. Although, several of the print magazines have started distributing across the border in Vancouver BC.
One thing that you can check in your rankings in Google.ca.

I have had a surprising number of Canadians register to use my search feature over the last month. I have yet to talk with any, but my thought is that they are the same as people from Michigan, New England and other northern U.S. states - they probably want to get out of the cold and away from the snow.

Good thought on Google.ca never thought of checking my rankings there. Sam, That is a good thing as Austin has to be a long drive from Canada. We also are a long drive from Canada and have been interested in targeting foreign investors and eventual homeowners.

I haven't sold any real estate to European buyers in a couple of years. A couple of years ago I sold 3 properties to European buyers from my website. All 3 buyers bought property sight unseen.

I agree I guess with the current state of the dollar US real estate should be open to many foreign investors. I initially thought Canadian due to my area having a number of Canadian tourists who visit annually. We also come to think of it have had an influx of European visitors coming this Summer.
Marketing to both areas would be productive as long as the dollar is low
