Here is a question. If 2 sites were doing some link exchanging, and then one of those links was removed but they both had great link juice, would that authority begin to be passed to the site that removed the link?
let me know your thoughts (and no there is nothing sinister going on here...just a question)

If just one site removed their link, then you would move from a reciprocal to a one way link. The site that removed their link would get the advantage.

This is why you have to keep checking on your links. A lot of sites have high PR by using this strategy.

If sites A and B are linking to each other and then site A takes site B's link down then site A will now be recieving a one-way link. The link juice will still be the same as it was. The difference is that site A is just not passing any back now.

I would stay away from reciprocal linking. The old days of Realtors linking to each other sites are over.

I dont normally do any reciprocal linking anymore...back in the day when I was stupid I did...but I have seen the light, along with dozens of books, thousands of blogs and hundreds of websites telling me the same thing

Your absolutely right, so many sources give incorrect or outdated information. I was in the same boat practicing reciprocal linking thinking it would shoot me the top of the Search Engines.

Reciprocal linking used to be a great way to get better ranking, but I totally avoid it now. Too many guys starting this very tactic where the links were traded and then yours was dumped to create a one-way. I got tired of checking my links, so I quite trading.

Ok, here is the better question, is it ok to send one way linkage from your offsite blog(s) to your website & what do you think the impact would be if they were reciprical at one time and then you break that on your website...
