On some of my pages I have 10 to 11 keywords/Phrases. I started to wonder is there a specific number I want to avoid going over. I just checked the site that is number for most of my keywords and it looks like they have about 100.

Just wondering if anyone had any advice or experience on the issue

I know its a good idea to have a keyword in the title, h1, sub heading, and dozen or so times in content. Its all about of page optimization.
But studying competition is a good idea.

Are you talking about the same set of keywords or different sets of keywords?

This is really more of a practical matter than an SEO optimization issue. The keywords need to flow naturally. You do not want them to appear forced.

If you can get 10 keywords on a page and have anything flow well, that is OK.

I think meta tags might be just about worthless for seo. Dont spend to much time on them.

Meta Description is for Humans so write a good mini sales letter to convert more click troughs.

Meta Keywords - Here's an example of what the number one site for city real estate did in my area <meta name="keywords" content="Trulia, Portland real estate, Portland Homes, Portland Homes For Sale, Portland properties, Portland listings" Very simple.

Hi, Google doesn't recognise keywords anymore because previously webmasters jam packed their pages with keywords and basically spamming the search engines with keywords.
So Google changed their algorithms not to notice meta keywords anymore. In saying that i always insert two or three keywords just in case. I think it's good practice to do it anyways.

I would rather concentrate on meta description and content within the web page.

Can you explain what you mean a little better? This comment doesn't make much sense to me - it's kinda similar to a lot I get people trying to post on my blog. I know not everyone uses English as a native language but what choice are you referring to and who did a poor job? I thought we were talking about the keyword meta tag.

I was wondering about this the other day myself, and it makes sense that Google would give them only minuscule value because of how easy it is to add lots of them.
