Default At least someone's doing well in this market..

Although, with the way they slather U's into every word possible, I wouldn't be surprised to see Canada facing a serious U shortage in the future.

Prices up by double digits for some homes in Summerside Breaking News print this article
Canadian housing market bucks U.S. trend: Century 21

The Journal Pioneer

SUMMERSIDE—The Century 21 2008 spring national house price survey of Atlantic Canada is out and the news is good for sellers in much of the region, including Summerside.

Collapsing home prices, as seen in the U.S., are not a factor in much of the region.

The price of a two-storey home in Miscouche rose by five per cent, to $195,000, while a bungalow in Summerside rose in price by 13 per cent, to $158,000.

Century 21 reported house prices remained robust throughout Atlantic Canada over the past year.

Prices over the past year have increased in all 27 neighbourhoods surveyed in Atlantic Canada.

The Century 21 Canada 2008 spring national house survey reflects the price of a typical home in 197 neighbourhoods in 66 communities across Canada.

I wonder why because it seems that the US housing market has effected most of the world, especially the UK.

We've got Canadian buyers pouring into our market. Oil is going nuts and there is a lot of oil in central/western Canada. And the Loonie (Canadian Dollar) is basically at parity with the US dollar -- for the first time in many years (maybe ever?)

Lots of buying power.

They are welcome to use all the "U's" they want!

Does anyone want to estimate how much longer this housing doom is going to last.
I personally really dont see house prices going down to much more. Its seems like the cost of building a home isnt going down. China and India are building like crazy right now, that has a huge effect on building commodities. Look what happened to copper. Heck it might be more expensive to build new in some cases right now, with all the builders liquidating. This could be a great time to buy?

Maybe a new thread is in order for this topic. But, I can't find the article, but in Saturday's paper some nationwide "expert" said nationally we needed 2 years for the correction and that we were already 18 months into the correction. And was predicting next spring to be back on the rebound.
