I am thinking of adding a featured listing box on my site. At first I thought to put it under my featured areas then I thought put it under my quick search. Not 100% where to place it, any feed back would be appreciated.

I would put one three or four wide right in the content area just above the inside scoop header, that way users will see the listings and scroll down thus drawing their attention to the rest of the content on the page and / or the listings.

Visitors don't want to view the same listings on every page. If they have an interest, they will come back to view them again.

If you want to feature listings on every page, maybe you want to have a custom snippet created that you can add to each featured page that rotates IDX listings specific to each featured area page. That way every page has listings that are relevant to that specific page. Just a thought....

I used to have a featured listings box on the top left of my page, but, it received virtually no clickthroughs.

I've added a couple of featured listings to my homepage that, instead of linking to the listings detail, link to the single property website and I can track the visits. Last 30 days, my site has referred 457 visitors to the 2 listings. They are on my homepage and they are also listed at the top of the city page that they are located in.

Have a look and see what I did with them on my homepage.

If your looking for exposure for the listings and additional marketing exposure, place them where they would go naturally and then maybe on a high traffic page.

Also, placing them on my site, even though they link out to a different site has not effected my rankings or # of registrations, bounce rate or anything else negatively.

On yout site, I think I agree with Morgan.

So for site stickiness, Mogan's referring to something like Jim Olenbush's home page right http://www.jimolenbush.com/? And I really like what you've done Ryan (Homes for Sale in Northcliff #1 in SERPs) and ability to track is great. For exposure, I'm wondering if someone without you're programming knowledge could use vlfyer and the likes to produce something "relatively" comparable? I don't think any of them give you enough control. Anyway, I'm for the 3 or 4 wide on the home page, Jason.
