Typically you will have better training, more resources, an opportunity to make more money (KW you can make more than 100%), and you will have more agents to borrow listings from for adv or open houses.

PM me if you want some details about KW without having to speak with the local office.

Entirely depends on your approach to real estate. If you can invest more money on effective advertising, with bigger commission cuts and trust your skills, go with the smaller one. Some agents are lone "falcons" (self advertising ) who think they can do it all. Some think the name brings them something. At the end of the day, we are all independent contractors.

I work for the an extremely large broker in the Twin Cities in Minnesota. Having been in the business for 2.5 years and seeing the regular screwups and poor service from some of the smaller brokerages, I really appreciate the company I'm with. Some of the biggest benefits:

On-staff legal department to answer questions and draft language for contracts
Cheap E&O insurance due to our size and required legal update classes
Inbound and outbound referrals to the RELO network
Monthly training opportunities
Established brand for 50 years means more credibility
Reputation as full-service broker
Offices all over the area where I have full access privileges
Office tours of my listings
Top-rate web site with agent branded MLS search for free
Computer software that prints property flyers in seconds
