It would be a sitemap of the IDX details pages. Basically - A page or number of pages which contains a list of all the IDX details pages.

There are 2 kinds of sitemaps:

- The XML sitemap for Google - Which would be like this http://www.youragentgreg.com/sitemap.xml except with IDX details page links in it.

- An HTML sitemap - This is an example http://www.coloradohomefinder.com/idx/prop_list.html

Does it help get the pages indexed (mine have fallen on Google)?

If so, which type of sitemap would be better? and could i just add it to the default footer on my site? Would it get updated automatically?

Not sure - I've heard that it might "assist" in that - no guaranties though.

I like the HTML sitemap - just seems more useful - because a user might actually use the sitemap also. ( not just for Google )

Yes. A work order is required to have us create the sitemaps.
