Default can you explain this

What is the difference in searching "austin real estate" vs. austin+real+estate? I thought both would return the same results and they do not.

Sam,

I would guess that you hit different data centers. Different data centers often have slighly different search results.

Take a look at the URL when you search for Austin real estate -

google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T5GGLL_enUS267US267&q=austin+real+estate

"austin real estate" & austin+real+estate is the same search

So these searches do the exact same thing? I thought they did, but I would like confirmation.

"austin real estate"
To search for a phrase, a proper name, or a set of words in a specific order, put them in double quotes.
http://www.googleguide.com/quoted_phrases.html

austin+real+estate
Force Google to include a term by preceding the term with a “+” sign.
http://www.googleguide.com/plus_operator.html

The difference is the quoted phrase will give you a search result with the exact phrase austin real estate Google will consider that as one word while with the + operator it will show results with the word austin, real and estate.

Though originally the + operator are used for Google's stop words.

Stop Words

Words that are ignored by Google

I tried it, and I got the same results for both searches.
Do you know what site you were searching on or what search engine it was?
That may be the reason you got different results.

Hope i was helpful,
John
