When listing Meta Keywords which does google prefer.

City, State, Keyword, Keyword 2, Keyword 3, Ect or

City State Keyword, City Keyword, City State Keyword 2, Ect,


I also understand that meta keywords have very little SEO effect anymore but I still would like to do them right.

Yeah the Googler doesn't care about Meta keywords and most experts say they don't care about the Meta description either, but the description can show up in search results so it's real important IMO.

Just structure your keywords in order of importance from left to right putting your most valuable keywords or keyword phrases first - it's likely a big waste of time but...

Other than a few instances, I've found that State keyword is searched more often than keyword State

Big search engine don't give much attention with the meta tags but the smaller one still do in indexing your site, Yeah we don't care with the small search engine but those bigger search engine still trust some of the smaller search engine so it do help in passing weight though.

Google does not even read Meta Keywords. Some of the other engines may give it a small consideration. Common wisdom is that the keyword tag can do more harm than good if it is not used correctly. Do not stuff tons of words into the tag. Error on the side of being conservative. 5 or 6 words per page is a good rule of thumb.

It is so easy to put some keywords in the meta tags I don't understand why people don't use them. If it was a complicated process then maybe I could understand but you just type some words.

The little engines don't send much traffic but it only takes one lead to put a smile on my face.
