I would like everyones thoughts on www.desertquarters.com , It still needs the blogs updated and I am adding some video, and the pictures will be new (better quality for the residences) I just feel it is lacking something.
ThanksJeffrey www,desertquarters.com |

Jeffery,
I would consider getting rid of your splash page, simply for search engine optimization purposes. They were popular several years ago, but you won't see many top ranking sites with them anymore.

Jeffrey -
I agree with John re the splash page. And I'm thinking you may want photos (maybe slide-show on upper right) of "Turnberry", "Allure" etc...user could click on slide show and go straight to "Properties Page". It could be that small aesthetic "something" you're looking for and makes it that much easier to "get to the properties". Best of luck with it... - Kevin

What you offer seems like a pretty cool idea after reading about it. As far as the site (it may have just been my computer today) the splash page seemed to have a long load time for me for some reason?
Not knowing what the site was about and IMO it felt like I had to search for what "Desert Quarters" was? Can you add some text below that or headline at the top of the main page something like "Luxury Living At A Fraction Of The Cost" or "Real Estate" or whatever, those tag lines may not be the best or fit correctly but you get what I mean. Also the text along the main page seems very close together and not real easy to follow, can you make the front page shorter, bold and make the headlines bigger with them being a link to take you to another page to read about that specific question rather than lay it all out on the front page? So have something like: With a timeshare, you're only buying time. (click and have it go to it's own page) With a timeshare, you're only getting 2 weeks.(click and have it go to it's own page) (click and have it go to it's own page) And so on... I like the main header picture, makes a nice draw for the eyes. Properties page is nicely done, easy to follow and gives great detail ![]()

The home page could use some photos through out the text. It just seems to run on. the design is great

I would create textual or graphical bookmark links at the top of the page to each of the major sections of the home page. The home page content is a lot to wade through, and needs to be summarized better.

When I first landed on the page, I thought it was a travel website for Las Vegas. At a first glance, you don't know what the site has to offer. You have to real through lots of text to find out what the site is about.
Don't get me wrong, nice design, pretty header picture and nice menu at the top, but as soon as someone lands on your home page, at that moment, the person has to know what you have to offer. Like others have mentioned, perhaps a slogan or a tag line at the top of the page. You have lots of text on your homepage, which is great for search engines, but difficult to follow for visitors. Separate your text into more paragraphs and add some eye-catching images to make it more fun. It's like reading an essay... a bit boring, but adding images, should spring things up. You're heading in the right direction and you're concentrating on niche market and with a little more work, it can be a great site where visitors will return time after time. Good job.

I like the layout of the website, especially the properties page. We do something like this on ours. I do agree the main index page has a lot of reading. I would cut it in half and create another page describing shared/fractional ownership.
One thing I would change (and this is just personal preference) is the black background. It makes the header image fade into the background. It's a beautiful picture and I think it should be highlighted with a lighter colored background.

The site looks a little dark and gloomy for me. Maybe it's the combination of the black background, the dark image in the header, the gradient background in the content, and the small text. But I don't feel compelled to read any of it.
Am I the only one who thinks the site is a little too dark? Maybe it's a defect in my perception... ![]() |
