Don't know if this has been posted elsewhere but Google has started a PR Toolbar update. I have seen a number of changes on different sites.

No change on my home page, but did see some movement on internal pages.

I found Matt Cutt's comment about this PR update very interesting:

"we’ll be expiring some older penalties on websites"

I never realized that Google penalties expire. I always assumed that whatever was causing the penalty would have to be fixed before it was removed.

I am not going to hazard a guess about who it is...but I will throw in that Google penalties can last AFTER something has been corrected and then (eventually) expire. My guess would be that this would be the type of case that Matt would be referring to.

I played with it a little bit this morning. It's cool in that it delivers an image w/ each search result. The search results seem to be decent, and I think the real leap forward with it is that it requires a fraction of Google's resources to index as many pages.

But man...those colors are horrible!!! I just don't think I could set an all black screen as my home page.
