A site appeared out of nowhere a few weeks ago to overtake all the keywords I was targeting and has just as suddenly disappeared. It was a large site of something like 10000 pages but it appeared to be computer generated gobbeldy gook and had nothing of value to be found on the entire site. Has anyone else seen anything similar?

Google also seems to have started using the DMOZ descriptions for the sites.

I think I know which one you are speaking of. it's a site that is almost on everyone's directory. I am glad that site is out of there because it was pissing me off that it spammed and was at the top.
It is still at the top of MSN and Yahoo

Yes that is the one. The really scary thing is the "SE" company that is supporting it touts its super fast rise to the top of all 3 search engines on it's home page, it is in fact just a sub domain of the "SE" domain. These "SE" companies are convincing poor realtors that they are providing value, buyer beware I guess.
