Default Where to begin submitting articles?

I was already to go write my first article and submit it to one of the popular article sites but I just read through the last years worth of forum posts about articles and now I'm really confused about articles.

Until I started "learning" from the article forum posts, I thought the articles I saw on sites like buzzle, american chronicle or ezinarticles were written for and only submitted to just that individual article site. It seems many of you are writing one article but submitting it to a number of sites sometimes as much as 250. (I saw some posts that said duplicate content was ok with articles so I'll accept that.)

So my question is this: If someone were trying to post their first article, where would the best places be to submit your article? Would you just submit it to one site or would you submit the article to a submission service hoping to get it on hundreds of sites? In other words, where do you start with submitting articles?

All I know is that when I first had my site built REW submitted articlesd for moe to several sites and it worked very well, I think the problem is not so much how many sites but quality sites. My understanding is that 30 quality sites would be worth much more than 200 garbage or unrelated content sites

what he meant was, it is a matter of quality over quantity,,, it is useless to submit to hundreds of sites if it is unrelated to yours.

My main question is still hanging out there. Where would you start? Come on experts, if you were writing your first article on something like a neighborhood profile, what site would YOU submit it to?

If I had to pick one I'd go with ezinearticles.com. After that I'd probably go with:

isnare
buzzle
American Chronicle
Searchwarp
Articlebase
Amazines
Articleonramp

A little depends on the content of each article. I wouldn't post a neighborhood profile on American Chronicle or Buzzle.

The issue is dupe content. Any of the above sites would be great to submit to but you will only get one link from Google because you are submiting the same content over and over. I think it would be better to write one article per site then to spam the internet with the same article 200+ times.

Thanks Nick and Calum. Does anybody care to take up or argue with Trophy Homes suggestion to only submit to only one site? I read through a lot of the forums and there was a lot of people sharing suggestions on submission services for multiple site submissions. I assumed if everyone was looking for cost effective submission services then it was generally agreed to submit to multiple sites. One person even said your content will get stolen and duplicated so you might as well be the one to get the links from all the sites your content is going to appear on anyway.

It's a tired argument, IMO. A lot of people stand on both sides. Do a search and you should find some good info from both sides here on the forum.
