For some reason I have disappeared from Yahoo. The only thing I can think is that my firewall went brain dead for 3 hours on Monday and about that time we just went away in their search.
Are they expecting 99.999 uptime and if not you are gone? |

Did you get penalized?

Could be...but damned if I would know what for. I have never had any hidden text, spam or linked to anyone other than on this forum.

What about duplicate content?
Here are the potential reasons why you have been penalized. What Yahoo! Considers Unwanted Some, but not all, examples of the more common types of pages that Yahoo! does not want include: Pages that harm accuracy, diversity or relevance of search results Pages dedicated to directing the user to another page Pages that have substantially the same content as other pages Sites with numerous, unnecessary virtual hostnames Pages in great quantity, automatically generated or of little value Pages using methods to artificially inflate search engine ranking The use of text that is hidden from the user Pages that give the search engine different content than what the end-user sees Excessively cross-linking sites to inflate a site's apparent popularity Pages built primarily for the search engines Misuse of competitor names Multiple sites offering the same content Pages that use excessive pop-ups, interfering with user navigation Pages that seem deceptive, fraudulent or provide a poor user experience You can get more info. here: http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/ysearc...etions-05.html I was penalized for either duplicate content on different websites or Pages dedicated to directing the user to another page. I was penalized about 3-4 months ago and still have not corrected it. The Yahoo service sucks. They don't give you specifics as to why you are penalized. They just give you this list. Good luck. |

I appear to be back at number 3 on yahoo so I think my original assumption may have been correct....that they penalized me for not taking better care of my precious firewall.....time to buy a new redundant pair of pix's. Thanks for the info Marc

I seem to have disappeared today as well. I wonder if I am having the same firewall issue...not sure why we would be penalized, must be an up time thing.

I keep bouncing around with my largest keyword in yahoo?
One week I am #3 for Jupiter Real Estate - next week I am in the 100+ category, the next week I was back in the top 20, then yesterday back to 150+???? The suprise to me is that on other keywords I have stayed in the top 20 through it all... I would have thought that if Yahoo did not like what I was doing it would bounce all the terms... I did drop from the search engine for a day - sent them an email inquiring if I done something - received confirmation that they had no issue - next day back in the top 20. Don't figure. Dave

I think I have finally come to an understanding on why Yahoo has forsaken me. I was doing an advanced search on Yahoo and found approximately 25 pages cached that I created deep under another domain when I was doing my site re-design in April. I had completely forgotten to remove the pages after I moved them on to a new server for my current site. These pages had essentially 100% duplicate content as they were the templates I used to build my current site.
From the gurus.....I removed all of the pages, is there any chance that given time Yahoo will forgive my stupidity? |
