Default Google Earth

Give Google Earth a try. It is a lot of of fun to play with. Some parts of the world are very detailed, some are not. You can take a snap shot and add to your website. Perhaps, add points of interest, schools, beaches, etc.

For the last few days, this software has lit up our office.

I think though that it is a lot of manual work trying to integrate this into my website.
As it is uploading the pictures and Virtual Tours to different sites is taking up a lot of time.

Any idea if you are allowed to use the images on your website? I sent the question in and I got a standard response from them which did not answer it.

The rules say for personal use. I'm guessing a realtor's website does not classify as personal use.

Marc,

I believe if we want to use it for our sites we have to pay for the business model which I think is $400.00. And I can't remember if that's annually or one shot.

The free downloads are still temporarily unavailable so no one can use this feature on Prudential's site.

Default Re: Google Earth (Florida GIS Data)

Pretty interesting. Google is basically bringing GIS applications to the common everyday user. With the Google Earth Pro you can incorporate your own GIS data (shapefiles, etc.) into an aerial application without having to deal with data projections, etc. I'm thinking about creating an application with parcel shapefiles, Future Land Use, Zoning, and last Sale Price amount.

A member posted data that incorporated the Florida Census Tracts obtained from a link on my Florida GIS Data Blogspot

The example can be viewed at Florida Census Tracts

"Prudential Chicago tweaks Google Maps for house hunting
Real estate brokerage adapts desktop mapping application
Friday, July 15, 2005

By Janis Mara
Inman News

Imagine being able to house-hunt without even going online, just by clicking an icon on the desktop and using the power of Google to search a 3-D satellite map to display houses by geographical area.

Thanks to the techno-smarts of a couple of geeks at Prudential Chicago, this scenario is now a reality for folks who are house hunting in Chicago."

Pretty neat. Judy, the $400 is an annual fee.
