Not realy

I have recently signed up with #1 Free Link Exchange Market and have so far I have not had any luck with getting link trading leads with anyone in the real-estate or financial industries. My Email box is however filling up rapidly with everyone selling porn, Viagra, etc. wanting me to link to them. I'm going to give it a week and if no change I'm done with them. Any one else have these problems?

A couple of problems you will have is:

1. Your links page is called "Links"
2. The page is not cached. The reason? See #1
3. Change the page to "Financial Directory" and name it the same thing
4. Create categories based on who you are willing to link with for example mortgage-companies.html, or payday-loans.html which would be linked off of the main directory. This will help to get this page not only cached, but will invite only the link partners that you are looking for.

Your site is the kind of site I would link to as I run residential mortgage sites, but I wouldnt go near it with "links" in the title and not being cached...

I have found pages that are named "links" are becoming heavily devalued, especially by Yahoo, but by Google as well. I have seen PR4 and PR5 sites that link directly to their "links" page without anything in the robots.txt to disallow robots to follow to that page and the page has been up for at least two months and was never cached or indexed.

I personally changed my stratgey on my new sites to not link with any site that would put me on a "links" or "resources" page unless there is less than 40 links and the page has a PR4+ (unless they are on REW of course )
As well I stay away from any numbered pages, unless it is from a realtor and it is something like 65786/directory/my-category.html as a lot of them are like that.

Since I have been using this method on my new site I have skyrocketed on my ranking. I now have the strategy of if you are offering as much value as I am as a link partner I want to link with you.

Now this may all be pure speculation on my part, but you know what they say. The proof is in the puddin'

I'm seeing more than a few cached pages in Google's index with "links" in the Title and/or URL.

Well, I am thinking that your own "links" page is called links.html or something similar otherwise I dont see why you would be trying to discredit me in some way. Especially after I said that this is what works for me, and since I have been following this method I am noticing big SERP movements. Where as 10 links might have made a 10 position move, 5 are now doing the same thing. This could be due to link aging, but I am talking Yahoo here not Google.

Also I am not sure what allinanchor or allinurl have to do with being a good page... Sure they maybe cached, but that is because huge corporations have "links" pages. Where you will start to see problems is on links pages that are so clearly there to manipulate the serps. Especially when you get things like links2.html, links3.html, etc... In this thread I stated a reason as to why his page might be having a problem. That's whats great about a message board you can choose to take it or leave it, but I feel the advice I gave is strong in fact it would never hurt you and could only help you in this matter.

Again, this is what I DO, and what is working for me. I feel I wasted 9 months or so linking to everyone and their mother. Since I have refined my link partners I shot out of the sandbox to the top of the serps. Again this could be aging, but it worked on four of my other sites as well...
