I know nobody knows for sure but how long did it take anyone on this forum to get on google initially.

I submitted my website 6 weeks ago on submitexpress.com and it has not been added yet. It's on yahoo though. ranked #4 (bakersfield appraiser).

Any ideas?

Part of getting into google is getting links from sites that Google spiders frequently.

I looked at your site with Marketleap and it shows 3 links on MSN. Two of them from REW and 1 your own site.

You will want to get some links to your sites from others.

Best of luck. I will add your site to one of mine that gets spidered frequently to see if I can't help. Recently I have had more trouble getting into Yahoo than Google.

I'am on Google. #21 for "bakersfield appraiser"...I will work on getting a higher rank.

Any ideas on how to get ranked higher on Google than Yahoo, I am #4 on yahoo and #21 on google.

You are welcome – others helped me when I found the site, thought I would return the favor…. Thanks are really due to the SEO-Guy and the moderators that enable us to have such a resource.


To climb in the rankings you will want to search thru the treads here.

The SEO-Guy has a great tutorial that addresses your question on placement.

All three of the search engines have different algorithms. And from my experience the activities that you need to work on are also very different.

My .02 (subject to change as I learn and the search engines change )

MSN – Microsoft appears to focus primarily on optimizing your site internally and far less value on links from other sites. It is possible to get to the 1st page of competitive terms in less than a months timeframe. Since your keywords appear not to be too competitive, you should be able to follow the guidance in the SEO-Guy tutorial and climb to the first page quickly. If Bakersfield appraiser is your primary keyword that you are targeting you will want to consider having that exact phrase in the Title, Meta tag description, and Meta tag keyword list. And then in the site the H1 tags should include the term followed by a couple more times in the text that follows. That should get you started towards the top of MSN.com

Yahoo – I was pleased when my site recently moved to # 1 for my farm area. I find that at first sites will bounce around a lot in Yahoo. I have had sites go from # 3 on the 1st page to 150+ in a day and back several days later. Other sites have been in and then out of Yahoo almost daily for a month before they start to settle down. Read the guidance about link building in this site and then start working the Link exchange forum to build the links. I would encourage you to take the time in the near future to build an index page with all 50 states listed and then a page for each state. Then again it may not even take 50 good links to get your site to the top??? If you plan on getting your site to the top of more competitive keywords in the future the individual pages now will pay dividends later.
There is some controversy about issues relating to what to name the pages so save your self some time later and do not use the term “links” in the page names

Google – Google takes longer to climb the rankings, Read the threads that talk about anchor text, how to select which sites you want to link to and avoid, you will read about the “Google Sandbox” and varying times that you should expect to have to wait before your site starts to climb. Since the appraiser keywords are not so competitive as real estate then you should not have to face the same issues. Anyway with Google, get the page title, and anchor text in sync and if you build the links your site should climb. Adding content on a regular basis and selecting the right sites to link to will help – but in your case probably not needed.

By the way, never use services like SubmitExpress... It's just pre-packaged garbage
