I have more backlinks in Google than my main competitors and yet, they all rank higher than I do for "Nashville Real Estate"

Anyone have any ideas if Google has stopped putting so much weight on backlinks? I have spent 4 solid months exchanging with quality sites and it doesn't seem to be enough.

Any ideas on what I might be mising?

I understand that quality means a lot too, that's why I only initiate and accept high quality links...for the most part Looking at my competition, I should be #6 or #7 not #19 at a minimum.

So many factors go into SERP ranking. Content is a biggy. Maybe their content is seen as more original or more in relation to the keywords you target.

Nashvegas, were you under the impression that backlinks alone would get you top placement in the SERPs?

Don't forget about age. All things being considered equal, an older site will also have an advantage.

If I remember correctly your site is quite new. Give it time.

I am under the impression that our site offers as much, if not, significantly more info than the top 10 in our market. I am constantly adding and changing the content, tweaking tags, and looking for quality link partners (I decline more than half of the requests I get).

The site as it is now is about 6 months old, but a site has existed on this domain for 4 years. Does Google restart the time clock when you significant change a site?

I believe as far as google is concerned content is everything. My biggest example is the Denver Real Estate #1 site in google. Look at the amount of content. Just absolutely mind blowing in that website.
