Default mirror site issues

There's a company out there that will give you a mirror of their entire site on your own domain with all the shipping and packaging taken care of by that company. The idea surely being that if you can bring people to them, then you get your commission for the favor. This is all brick and mortar with a web presence so it's a way for them to improve their web presence.

QUESTION: there are several people who have done this for the company so there are several sites on different domains with the EXACT same content. The company lets you tweek a template for colors but text is always the same since it's an extensive product line, I assume they don't want mistakes being introduced into their marketing. SO IS THERE ROOM FOR SEO SUCCESS in a situation like this? Or since there are already mirror sites out there will you always be penalized and never be able to get good rankings despite aggressive link building. Anyone have experience on this one? (ps: this is not an amazon deal)

if you cannot change the content at all, you will typically have poor results in this situation. Is there not the possibility of getting a feed, parsing it into a database and writing your own content algo's ?

Doesn't sound like it. Maybe they could be made aware of the errors of their ways and they'd actually change their web marketing program. Like you say, seems like it would be real tough to make any headway no matter how many links are supporting it.

I'll ask them about xml feeds so that we could at least wrap their content with some custom text and a unique template. Another option would be to build a separate site that just redirects people to the forced mirror site for the actual transactions. But I still need more from the company like a feed or a database to generate the pages for it. Interesting delema they got themselves in.

Thanks for the thoughts!
